The Bund Deutscher Radfahrer deletes the kids-tour from the rad-net calendar of events. That in itself is a scandal. What's even worse is that I only learned about it by chance.
Yesterday, Günter Schabel confirmed the silent deletion to Hans-Günter Päske, 2nd CEO of the organiser Wheel Divas Cycling Team e.V. He is on his way to the next competition in Austria with his women's team after 2 UCI races in Slovakia and Hungary. Schabel is vice-president of competitive sports at the BDR. I think that with his powerless assertiveness our elected representatives Scharping, Schabel, Wolf, Moster and our young people are giving up. He who does nothing will be done to. Schabel also gave reasons. I should continue to communicate without result with the Berlin President Claudiu Ciurea, the BDR sees itself as being on the outside. On the outside when it comes to children? And should I really switch off the kids-tour website? And what will happen next year?
The active participants are holding their own against the BDR and BRV opinion: More and more clubs, coaches and sports directors are in favour of the original kids-tour. With yesterday's 40th team registration by Nick Kracik | TSC Berlin, all Berlin teams are also participating. In addition, the youth leaders of the northern federations had spoken out in favour of holding the 28th International kids-tour from 26.08.22 - 28.08.22.
All of them, including the Berlin teams, continue to demand and expect the tour to take place, sending out clear signals for the kids. Berlins president Claudiu Ciurea and his Berlin "road manager" Jörg Wittmann are against it. Wittmann had already buried the Tour de Berlin during his term of office. Ciurea wants to push his invention "Youngster Race". Whether this succeeds will now also depend on the character of the team bosses and team managers.
My organising team, sponsors and last but not least the board of Wheel Dives e.V. with Sina Päske now have to weigh up and consider the next steps. The presidents of the regional associations and team leaders are in favour of holding the kids-tour and request their top association, the Bund Deutscher Radfahrer, to register the kids-tour on rad-net. This would be legally impossible to pass.
The presidents of the regional associations and team leaders are in favour of holding the kids-tour and call on the Berlin cycling federation to approve the event.
Another national association advertises the kids-tour.
