Ricarda Bauernfeind is successful participant of kids-tour Berlin. She won and is successful in the female class 2013 to 2016. Her team is the regional association of Middle Franconia, the home club of RSG Ansbach.
Ricarda Bauernfeind shows what is possible. Advisors, coaches and above all she herself are slowly developing one of the world's best female cyclists. Physically strong, mentally with self-doubt and the question: What do I want? And she does many things differently: less road training, more laptop, screen, Zwift and few training programs. Three hours of intensive interval programs, "I like to battle." Not necessarily with others, but mainly with herself and always just the numbers and wattage.
Success is not an accident. It is the result of hard work, perseverance, learning, study, sacrifice, and above all, love for what you are doing or about to learn.*
Nothing happens by chance. Especially not in cycling. Ricarda Bauernfeind is proof that success above all requires a professional infrastructure. Even if the kids-tour is only a small building block on the way to the absolute top of the world, it is a building block. Built several times in her sporting foundation between 2013 and 2016.
Ricarda Bauernfeind is now a two-time World Championship bronze medalist in the U23 class and has long been considered a great climbing talent. At the Tour de France Femmes 2023, her victory on the 5th stage crowns her sporting career. It is a second-chance career, not the state-funded and organized system path.
She has doubts about her fitness for cycling, withdraws from the squad and the national team in 2019. By then she is almost lost to German cycling. Everything is going too fast, she like many others are not ready for professional cycling. Bauernfeind goes further, slower and her own way. No organized sport, no semi-governmental or governmental agencies accompany her. It is again the private, voluntary companions and supporters. Thanks to the brother-in-law and Mario Vonhof, the Bavarian state coach. This will lead to success in 2022.
