  • News about the international kids-tour 2022

The original tour takes place traditionally. 40% of the teams have already registered. The Federation of German Cyclists, the Berlin Cycling Federation and the head of the organisation team Michael Lemke are in contact. Let's start with the good news: More than 30 teams have now submitted their entries, which is more than 40%. The quota is in line with the experience of previous years, says Michael Lemke. The official announcement is still open. It is still not released by the President of the Berlin Cycling Federation. On 10.06.22 the organising team contacted the board of the German Cyclists' Federation. It was asked to mediate in the matter. There is currently no information on the state of negotiations. According to the BDR, it is "all about sensitivities". The BDR supports the organisation of the 28th International Kids Tour. The organizing team continues to assume that the tour will take place as planned from 08/26/22 to 08/28/22 takes place on the 4th stages. auf den 4. Etappen stattfindet. "Fair goes first."

  • Original and Copy - Excitement about the International kids-tour 2022

If you don't know anything about the original, you'll be captivated by the copy. And copies are the best proof of success. The original and the copy. Excitement about a 2nd kids-tour in Berlin. An overview and the realisation: The original tour traditionally takes place. The Berlin Cycling Federation today published a call for enrollment on the official website of the Bund Deutscher Radfahrer. It calls its event the 28th International Kids Tour. Conclusion: Not always where it says kids-tour on it, is kids-tour in it. The announcement of the original kids-tour has been prevented for weeks, unfortunately also by the same Berlin cycling federation. Since 2021, the BRV has not budged because of the kids-tour. After 20 years in 2021, the creator of the kids-tour website was quietly deprived of access to his voluntary work and his enquiries were ignored. As a result, the BRV shut down the kids-tour.de website. No word. No replies. Silence. A consequence of the silence since 2021, the head of the organisation team of the original Michael Lemke gathered the old crew together as usual, got money, sponsors, help and after a 2-year break planned the race again on his own. Jens-Holger Mey once called for bridge-building: "Micha" in particular had been trying for months to cooperate with the BRV board. His written offer included, among other things, a complete financial relief for the Berlin Cycling Federation, a media upgrade of the public relations work and a single task for the BRV: the organisation of the ceremonies. The little should be compensated financially. A blessing for the Berlin cycling children, because they have to pay a toxic amount, too much, for their track races, among other things, due to the desolate financial situation of the BRV. Nevertheless, the BRV board cancelled after weeks. For weeks now, the biggest obstacles for the organiser Lemke have been coming from him and his Berlin cycling federation, from its president and its road racing manager. Both of them prevent the announcement on the official website of the German Cycling Federation again and again, tactic, stall. Michael will find a solution for this too. According to cycling experts Bernd Mülle and Arne Mill, the Tour still exists thanks to him alone. The tour will take place as planned from 26.08.22- 28.08.22 on the 4th stages will take place. "Fair goes first." So the preparations for his traditional event on the traditional weekend continue unabated. The many registrations from home and abroad, the promises of his sponsors, the help of his supporters and his will to have the kids-tour traditionally take place in 2022 as well are motivation enough. "Micha" gave Jens- Holger his word. And while some try to preserve tradition, others change entire events; exchange content without re-labelling them. Developments that seem to have been agreed with no one. Whether the widow and heiress of the originator Giesela Dietz-Mey or the originator of the kids-tour website Dietmar Silber or the long-time head of the organising committee Michael Lemke - all of them have now been thrown out by the board of the Berlin Cycling Federation. The general meeting of the BRV was also not informed, one hears. So the BRV, of all people, still has no approved budget for 2022 and certainly not for the financial burdens and risks of such a stage ride. The BRV now suddenly wants to rewrite the kids-tour story, give it a different face, change it completely, and that alone. For 27 years, the kids-tour has traditionally taken place on the last weekend in August and not on 19.08.ff. Instead of public profiles that have been tried and tested over the years. routes, roads and destinations of today's world champions now the exchange for secluded small parkours. Instead of children and cycling races in public, teams and winners are now to be crowned off the beaten track. No audience, no public, unknown disciplines, wrong age groups. The orga team is building a bridge. Running across it seems obviously difficult.

  • Greeting to the 28th International kids-tour 2022

Beautiful things quickly become tradition*. Mrs. Gisela Dietz-Mey makes sure that it stays that way. She is now the guardian of the idea and tradition of the International Kids Tour and is looking forward to a 4-stage tour in 2022. Cycling is uniting people, said my husband Jens- Holger Mey in 1993. He was the idea generator, inventor and founder of the International kids-tour, and for many years the organisational director. His guiding principle was and is international understanding, fair-play, respectful interaction with other cultures. This idea is more important today than ever. Every year, Jens-Holger built bridges of international understanding for more than 250 children and almost 30 nations and for fair dealings in partnership. He saw that international cycling events are the undisputed highlight of the season for children, coaches and spectators. There, children motivate each other to be at their best, live fair play and celebrate successes together as a team or console each other when they lose. Berlin was also important to him as a host and the chance to present itself with all its facets and as a sports metropolis. Jens- Holger led Germany's only international junior cycling event to the most important junior cycling race in the world, gave cycling a future here in Berlin. He rewarded the children for their year-round commitment in the hard, tough everyday training through his extraordinary event. My husband passed away in 2020. As patron, I let the idea live on. In keeping with Jens-Holger's spirit, I am once again placing the event in the good hands of Michael Lemke, the organiser. May cycling bring people together. I wish all participants and the organising team every success! Gisela Dietz-Mey - in May 2022 *Aba Assa (*1974), Essayistin

Dear friends of cycling and fans of the kids-tour Berlin, the registration tool is online since 9.5.2022 and it works very well. It will make the work a little easier. Nevertheless, there are always small improvements to the tool in between in the "backstage". You always learn something new and only get better that way. To date, the following teams have registered 7 teams in the U13 age group, 7 teams in the U15 age group and 3 teams in the U15 female age group. have registered. Among them are already the first foreign teams. The announcement of our original kids-tour has been ready for a long time. The publication still fails because of the Berlin cycling federation (BRV). We still hope that the BRV will finally release the announcement. It would then be available online as usual via the portal of the Bund Deutscher Radfahrer rad-net. We wish all teams and athletes a good preparation.

  • Preparations for international kids-tour 2022 in full swing

What lasts long finally becomes good. It's not as easy as it seems. Especially not when an international stages- race has to be organised. The organisation team is working flat out to organise the traditional event at the end of August. As the organisational director of the kids-tour for many years, I also try to act in the best interests of the children. Those who know me know that I am an honest person. In Berlin and in German cycling, the political intrigues that often seem to be more important do not determine my actions, and they certainly don't make me deviate from my path. If that was attempted, then I also said goodbye to a coaching position that was so important to me and went other and now successful ways with my racers and the national cycling league Wheel Devils. For more than a decade, I have organised the International kids-tour with a small organisational team outside the Berlin Cycling Federation, most recently in 2019. Anyone who looked behind the scenes saw that the BRV only played a financial role here. With the kids-tour, too, I want to go new ways, successful ways, free of political influences and also with former companions. "A new start in 2022 is particularly important after the Corona crisis and for the promotion of young cyclists." For months I have therefore been trying to reach a consensus with the board of the Berlin Cycling Federation on the organisation. The conditions imposed on me during talks are completely unsuitable for my work, also and especially in the spirit of the founder Jens- Holger Mey and his wife. The letter of intent I submitted was rejected by the BRV. A cooperation is not favoured by the BRV, the chance for a new beginning in favour of children's and junior racing in Berlin is obviously interpreted differently. In short, my efforts after many negotiations and even more correspondence with the BRV did not work out as hoped in the end, and now it is time to act. "Because young cyclists get a good chance to promote themselves through such a unique tour. " In order to organise an international kids tour, to restructure it and to set it up in a more modern way, it is above all important to have reliable and proven partners. Thus, doers, specialists, clubs, sponsors, the women's national cycling league team Wheel Divas and the national cycling league team Juniors Wheel Devils joined forces to form ARGE kids-tour under my leadership. We are united by the goal of making the tour an experience in the spirit of Jens-Holger. My organisation team of the ARGE kids tour is in full swing with the preparations. Competition and event planning, traffic safety, marketing, finances such as funding applications, the crowd-funding launched in 2019 - everything has to be covered. The traditional routes are clear, small details are being revised and then it's time to apply for funding. A new website had to be set up overnight. The previous one was, for whatever reason, neither accessible for the supervisor nor for me. It has been permanently switched off for months. With it, important historical data was lost. Here, too, the challenge is to procure, collect, sift and process the lost material and put it online. Another new feature will be a digital registration tool, which will go online in the next few days. But there is already a lot to find on the site. Soon there will be more news in the blog. M. Lemke
